During the Spanish period, the island was known as Isla de Fuegos, or Island of Fire. The island is a peaceful location that is suitable for individuals who want to relax and unwind as it is full of beaches and islands.

If you are traveling from Manila, you can reach Siquijor via a flight. Once at the Dumaguete City Airport, ride a tricycle going to Dumaguete Port, where you can ride a boat going to Siquijor. Once there, you can ride a tricycle or habal-habal en route to your hotel/resort.

Siquijor is a safe place to visit, but as with any other part of the country, precautions should be taken. Always be cautious. Late at night, avoid wandering alone on quiet streets.
